Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman is a collection of 24 short stories by Haruki Murakami, written between 1980 and 2005. The stories were originally published separately in various Japanese magazines and collections, and were later selected by Murakami himself and first released in English translation in 2006 (the Japanese edition followed in 2009).

The translations are divided between Philip Gabriel and Jay Rubin, and Murakami considers this volume his first “proper” English-language short story collection since The Elephant Vanishes. In the book’s introduction, he notes that while writing novels is challenging for him, writing short stories is a joy—comparing novel writing to planting a forest, and short story writing to planting a garden.

The collection consists of independent stories featuring Murakami’s familiar themes and atmospheres. An animated film adaptation directed by Pierre Földes premiered in 2022 at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
