Tarkīb-band-e Moḥtasham: 12 band Persian 2026

This book contains the celebrated tarkīb-band by Mohtasham Kashani, composed in elegy for the martyrdom of Imam Husayn. It is one of the most enduring and influential works of Persian devotional poetry, having played a central role in Ashura mourning rituals for centuries.

The present volume has been produced with an artistic and refined approach, presenting the poetic text alongside distinguished examples of Iranian calligraphy: Shekasteh script by Darvish Abdolmajid Taleqani and Nastaʿlīq script by Gholam-Hossein Amirkhani, accompanied by delicate illumination (tazhib) by Mohammad-Baqer Aghamiri.

This book not only reflects the emotional and spiritual depth of tenth-century AH Ashura poetry, but also stands as a distinguished example of the integration of poetry, calligraphy, and the traditional art of Persian book design. Its publication by the Iranian Calligraphers Association, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, firmly establishes the work as a valuable artistic and literary resource.
