There are only two ancient texts left about Kariz and its related issues, one of them is called Anbaat al-Mihaa al-Khifiya by Abu Bakr Muhammad bin Al-Hassan al-Hasab al-Karji (4th and 5th century AH) written in Arabic and the other text, fortunately, is in Persian. And the only known version of it in recent years is the same book of Qassaman and Maghniyan instructions. This text was written shortly before 1117 AH, that is, at the end of the Safavid period, by Fakhreddin Alishah Hossein Qassam Joyimi, and it contains a lot of valuable information about Kariz and technical issues and Its legal.

درباره کاریز و مسائل مرتبط با آن فقط دو متن کهن بر جای مانده که یکی از آنها با نام انباط المياه الخفيه اثر ابوبکر محمد بن الحسن الحاسب الکرجی (سده ۴ و ۵ ق به زبان عربی نگاشته شده است متن دیگر که خوشبختانه به زبان فارسی است و نسخه منحصر به فرد آن در سالهای اخیر شناخته شده همین کتاب دستورالعمل قسّامان و مقنیان است این متن اندکی پیش از سال ۱۱۱۷ق یعنی در اواخر دوره صفوی توسط فخرالدین علیشاه حسین قسّام جویمی نوشته شده و حاوی اطلاعات فراوان و ارزشمندی دربارۀ کاریز و مسائل فنّی و حقوقی آن است.
