The shape of Design attempts to explore opportunities to explore the realm of design, moving away from the everyday concerns of conscious design to find patterns and evaluate design practice as a coherent whole. From this distance, we can see two basic design features that are easily ignored. First, design is the visualization of the future and the intelligent and clever movement towards it. Design is a way to remove the gap between the existing situation and the desired situation. Second, design is the act of making something for others. We are all on this road together. These two characteristics make our relationship with the world and our connection with each other necessary. These two are the foundations of design, so our work should revolve around these two truths. - From the text of the book
