Abu Hanifah Ahmed bin Dawood Dinuri is one of the great Islamic historians in the past, dating back to the year 283 of the lunar calendar. Akhbar al-Twal first deals with the history of creation and talks about prophets such as Idris, Noah, Hud, Abraham... and the kingdom of David and Solomon until the advent of Jesus. It talks about the appearance of Zoroaster and his religion and the salvation of the Israelites by the kings of Iran. The biography and history of the kings of Iran from Jamshid and Zahak's victory over him to Manouchehr, Qiqbad, Gestasb, Bahman, Dara, Iskandar, and the kings of Al-Tawaif and then the Sassanids until their extinction are among the other topics of the book. The history of Islam in this book begins with the Arabs and Iranians in detail during the caliphate of Umar and ends with the end of the caliphate of Mutasim. In addition, the wars of Amir al-Mu'minin Ali (a.s.) with Muawiyah, the wars of Jamal, Safin, and the Khawarij, and the period of rule of Muawiyah and Yazid. Karbala and the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS) are also described in detail. The story of the uprising of Mukhtar and his companions, the Zubirians, the extinction of the Banu Marwan, and the uprising of the people of Iran, especially the uprising of Khorasan led by Abu Muslim, is another topic of the book.
