Muḥammad 'Alī Muvaḥḥid

Mohammad-Ali Movahed (born 1926, Tabriz) is a distinguished Iranian author, scholar, jurist, translator, and editor whose enduring works in history, mysticism, law, and classical literature have earned him a prominent place in Iranian intellectual and cultural life. He studied law at the University of Tehran and worked for years in oil law, diplomacy, and historical research. Movahed is renowned for his critical editions and commentaries on mystical texts such as Masnavi-e Ma’navi and Discourses of Shams, as well as for his original books including The Turbulent Dream of Oil, In the Struggle Between Religion and State, and In the Shadow of the Sun.
