This book portrays the everyday routines, bitterness, and sweetness of life in an industrial city in eastern Iran, where the 120-day winds, factory dust, and people of rich cultural heritage form the backdrop of the story. In an intimate and at times humorous voice, the narrator speaks of workplace tensions, economic hardship, failed marriages, poverty, and, at the same time, of love, regional music, prayer, and hope.

The presence of symbolic figures such as “Rider on Fire,” a Native American warrior, and encounters with the narrator’s other self add philosophical and mystical layers to the novel. With poetic yet documentary-like prose, this work becomes a mirror of contemporary Iranian society: a story of days burned by worry and nights still kept bright by the hope of a better tomorrow.
