Wadad Halwani is a civil activist, human rights and public freedoms advocate, and founder and president of the Committee of the Families of the Kidnapped and Disappeared in Lebanon. She holds a BA and a teaching qualification in geography. In 1982, during the Lebanese civil war, her husband, Adnan Halwani, was kidnapped from their home in Ras al-Nabaa, and his fate remains unknown to this day.
