In the last decade, the X-network, or the former Twitter, has become a platform for many political, media, and civic activists around the world. Although a small percentage of Iranians use Twitter, this social network has become one of the main sources of news production and dissemination, and many interactions occur on this platform. It can be said that social media such as Twitter, as the information environment of the new generation, has not only had a significant impact on the process of socialization of this generation but also the type of activism of civic and political activists and has led to a change in the political culture of the elite. This change is a phenomenon that is referred to in this book as “The Twitterization of Politics in Iran.”

در یک دهه‌ی اخیر، شبکه‌ی ایکس یا همان توئیتر سابق، بستر فعالیت بسیاری از فعالان سیاسی، رسانه‌ای و مدنی در سراسر جهان شده است. اگرچه در ایران درصد کمی از توئیتر استفاده می‌کنند، این شبکه‌ی اجتماعی به یکی از منابع اصلی تولید و انتشار اخبار تبدیل شده و بسیاری از تعاملات در این بستر رخ می‌دهد. می‌توان گفت رسانه‌های اجتماعی مانند توئیتر، به‌عنوان محیط اطلاعاتی نسل جدید، نه‌تنها تأثیر به‌سزایی بر روند جامعه‌پذیری این نسل گذاشته، بلکه بر نوع کنشگری فعالان مدنی و سیاسی نیز اثر گذاشته و منجر به تغییر فرهنگ سیاسی نخبگان شده است. این تغییر پدیده‌ای است که در این کتاب از آن با عنوان «توییتری شدن سیاست در ایران» یاد شده است.
