Almost everything we know depends in some way on the testimony of others; Things like what we eat, how things work, where we go, and even who we are. We do not directly understand how the ingredients of many of our foods are prepared, the structure of the devices we use to travel around the world, the shape of our planet, or our own birth dates and family histories. These are all things that others have told us. If we leave the information that we have through evidence from our lives, it will make our lives hardly recognizable, scientific discoveries, victorious and non-victorious battles, geographical developments, customs and traditions of distant lands, all these facts will be lost from our hands. Therefore, it is not surprising that the importance of the certificate, both from an epistemological and a practical point of view, is almost universal.
