خاطرات خانه اموات، رمانی نوشته ی فئودور داستایفسکی است که اولین بار در سال 1862 منتشر شد. فئودور داستایفسکی به خاطر عضویت در گروهی مخفی از آرمان گرایان، در سال 1849 بازداشت و به یکی از اروگاه های کار در سیبری تبعید شد. این تبعید که مشکلات روحی و جسمانی زیادی را برای داستایفسکی به وجود آورد، مایه ی الهام او برای خلق رمان خاطرات خانه ارواح گردید. داستان این رمان توسط مردی روایت می شود که به خاطر قتل همسرش به ده سال زندان محکوم شده است. داستایفسکی در این کتاب به شکلی روشن و ملموس، شایط جهنم گونه ی زندان را به تصویر می کشد: بی رحمی نگهبانانی که عاشق اذیت و آزار زندانیان هستند؛ شرارت زندانیانی که از کشتن کودکان لذت می برند؛ و رنج کشیدن انسان هایی نجیب به خاطر تحقیر و بدرفتاری.
