The book contains seven chapters with the following titles: "Definition of key terms and concepts", "Classification of existing theories in environmental ethics", "Theory of respect for nature", "Evaluation of the theory of respect for nature", "Environmental ethics from The perspective of Judaism and Christianity", "Environmental ethics from an Islamic perspective" and "In search of a united community". This book is an innovative attempt to apply the idea of "overlapping consensus" in environmental ethics to show the possibility of agreement between religious ethics and non-religious ethics in this field. The idea of "overlapping consensus" is one of the innovations of John Rawls, the most important late philosopher of ethics and politics in the 20th century. In light of this idea, Rawls tries to show that it is possible for everyone to agree on the theory of justice as fairness in the realm of politics and that followers of comprehensive religious and non-religious worldviews and ideologies, despite the differences they have in their belief and value systems, can for various reasons that each One of them is based on the specific assumptions accepted by each group, to reach a consensus on a specific and uniform interpretation and understanding of the principles of justice in the realm of politics.
