What we are generally not encouraged to do—indeed, what we are seriously discouraged from doing—is to make connections between cultural works and our own hopes and dreams, and problems in our lives. Great cultural and artistic works are almost always created to release the consolation and soul of their audience. Each of these works has been created in a way to save lives with the aim of changing people's lives. We need the manifestations of the culture around us because in order to achieve balance and perfection, we are weak and underpowered.
