The book "Metaphysics of Tubes" is a novel written by "Amélie Nothomb" which was first published in 2000. The ninth novel of the prolific Belgian-French author and creator of successful stories such as "Fear and Trembling", is an autobiographical story with a big difference. This work, from different and attractive points of view, tells the story of the first three years of the life of "Amelie", a girl who was born in 1970 to Belgian parents living in Japan. The baby, who is initially a "tube" that only does the work of eating, digesting, and excreting food, gradually grows and acquires its own tastes and sensitivities. After some time, he comes to the realistic realization that his status as a "god" (based on a concept in a Japanese legend) represents the paradise he must soon leave.
