The book in five chapters is about the birth of Buddha, fictions and legends about him, study on his historical personality and slowly follows his life changes. Then with observing historical order describes Buddhism studies. The other chapters are about; Buddhism with people, the causes and factors of not establishing this religion in India and its expansion in East and Far East.

اين كتاب آميزه اي از ترجمه و تاليف است كه حاصل پژوهش ها و مطالعات چند ساله ي اميرحسين رنجبر به انضمام يادداشتهايي كه او طي چند سال براي خود جمع آوري كرده بود. كتاب در پنج بخش درباره تولد بودا، داستان ها و افسانه هاي مربوط به آن و تحقيق و بررسي شخصيت تاريخي بودا است و به آرامي تحولات زندگي او را تا "روشن شدگي" دنبال مي كند، آنگاه با رعايت سير تاريخي به تعاليم و آموزه هاي اصيل بودايي مي پردازد. در فصلهاي بعدي به موضوعاتي چون؛ آئين بودا در نزد مردم، علل و اسباب پا نگرفتن اين آئين در هندوستان و حركت و گسترش آئين بودا به خاور زمين و خاور دور مي پردازد.
