The essential glance used in this book for the theory subject is three glances: history, man and thought. In the first glance, the aim is to establish a logic connection between each historical periods and theories in those times. The second glance to this theory is through scientifics and the third glance is to criticise the theory by the theories itselves.

رويكرد اساسي مورد استفاده در كتاب حاضر به موضوع نظريه، رويكردي سه گانه بوده است: تاريخ، انسان و انديشه. در نخستين رويكرد، هدف آن است كه بتوان رابطه اي منطقي ميان هر يك از دوره هاي تاريخي و نظريه هايي كه در آن دوره ظاهر شده يا از ميان رفته اند برقرار كرد. دومين رويكرد به نظريه در كتاب از خلال انديشمندان بوده است. در انسان شناسي بيش از هر علم ديگري مي توان نوعي نزديكي و وابستگي را ميان سرنوشت هاي فردي انديشمندان و نظريه ها و انديشه هاي آن ها مشاهده كرد. رويكرد سوم، پرداختن به نظريه در قالب خود نظريه ها بوده است.
