The story is about a poor ascetic man. One day the king wanted to help him and gave him an expensive cloth with jewels. In the way a thief saw the cloth and decided to take it. He went to ascetic man's house and told him: "I have heard about your mortification, would you please accept me as your student?"

داستان درباره مرد زاهديست كه شهره عام و خاص بود. روزي پادشاه كه نذر داشت، لباس گرانقيمتي كه با جواهراتي تزيين شده بود براي اين مرد پارسا هديه فرستاد. در راه برحسب اتفاق دزدي اين لباس را مي بيند و قصد دزديدن آن را مي كند. به خانه پيرمرد مي رود و مي گويد: "من از زهد و تقواي تو بسيار شنيده ام، آيا مرا به شاگردي قبول مي كني؟"
