Ṣawratun ʻā’ilīyatun: Arabic 2013

The “Hind wa Saif” stories are a realistic fiction chapter book series, based on two main characters; a ten year old girl “Hind”, and her twelve year brother “Saif”. The stories are told from Hind’s and Saif’s perspectives, and reflect contemporary urban middle class lifestyles inspired from Arabic culture . The themes cover a diversity of high appealing tweens themes such daily life challenges, concerns, adventures, and misadventures; from unraveling the secrets of the ‘apple tree shaking’ game, learning about the wonders of x-ray, and be a bully, to playing the Oud instrument, exploring the beauty of the desert, and even getting caught up in world cup football frenzy.The series is written in an easy to follow style traditional Arabic, incorporating the full Arabic diacritics to facilitate reading. Font size and line spacing accommodate for children with mild dyslexic issues. The “Hind wa Saif” series targets 9+ pan Arab children from Morocco to the Gulf.
