Jules Verne (born February 8, 1828, Nantes – died March 24, 1905, Amiens) was a French novelist, playwright, and pioneer of science fiction literature. He gained worldwide fame for his classic adventure novels such as Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, Journey to the Center of the Earth, and Around the World in Eighty Days. By blending scientific imagination, exploration, and contemporary knowledge, Verne created visionary worlds that captivated 19th-century readers and influenced generations of writers. His works have been translated into over 148 languages, making him one of the most translated authors in history. His futuristic outlook laid the foundation for the science fiction genre.
