ادوارد سنت ابین (متولد ۱۹۶۰) نویسنده و روزنامه‌نگار انگلیسی از جمله نویسندگان سرشناس معاصر اروپاست که برخی آثارش نامزد جایزۀ بوکر و جایزۀ داستان گاردین شده است. برخی منتقدان ادبی عقیده دارند که آثار سنت ابین خوش‌خوان و لذت‌آفرین است و نثرش با افسونی ساده، نقاب از چهرۀ شرارت برمی‌دارد. رمان خبر بد او سوژه‌هایی برای پیگیری دارد: اعتیاد، جوانی درهم‌شکسته از یک خانوادۀ اشرافی بریتانیایی، سفر به آمریکا، و کشاکشی درونی که لحظه‌ای شخصیت اصلی را رها نمی‌کند. این رمان حکایتگر تجربه‌ای زیسته است، اما رخدادهای واقعی قبل از هر چیز به داستان تبدیل شده و جذابیت کار نویسنده هم در همین نکته نهفته است.
