The Kolliyāt-e Shams-e Tabrizi—also known as the Dīvān-e Kabīr or the Dīvān of Shams-e Tabrizi—is a vast collection of poetry by Rumi (Molana), consisting primarily of ghazals, along with qasidas, qit‘as, poems in Persian and Arabic, mulamma‘ verses, tarji‘-bands, and rubā‘is. It is considered one of the most outstanding masterpieces of mystical poetry in the realm of Islamic culture and Persian literature. The work reflects one of the most wondrous examples of a profound spiritual relationship between two exceptional human beings, whose ecstatic love reaches a state of unity—so much so that Rumi often ends his ghazals with invocations of Shams-e Tabrizi.

The Commentary on the Dīvān of Shams-e Tabrizi is a work compiled to enhance the understanding and interpretation of Rumi’s ghazals. In this second volume—structured in one hundred chapters, as in the first—Karim Zamani offers detailed explanations and interpretations of the poems.
