After conducting numerous interviews with women who have fallen victim to this tradition, she realizes that Mrs. Dahlavi’s story is different from the others: a woman who emerged from the heart of that very custom, yet now lives in another city, educated and running her own music academy. This curiosity draws Sara to her home, and their long conversations gradually form the backbone of the book.
