History as a system faces the crisis of Western reason and the criticism that our philosopher makes of it. To think is to dialogue with circumstances, this is how Ortega's philosophy emerges, as a manifestation and diagnosis of the crisis (not only of the sciences or the foundations) reaching the model of reason and the man of modernity. He begins his criticism of rationalism, physicalism positivist naturalism; and the fetish ideas of progress and utopia. Criticism of modernity, man challenges his existence as a drama ("disillusioned to live") and finds in history itself "his original and indigenous reason for him" Life guides reason (vital, narrative, historical), and the truth is discovered in history. In this way, history is a factor of intelligibility, understanding, and explanation of reality.
