I am a persistent and serious documentary maker, I have been making documentaries since the late sixties and writing about Iranian documentary cinema. But this book is not a recollection of my documentary film's life, it is a recollection of this life. It was not intended to provide a history and report of the works. It is more about the thoughts and mental states and reflections of the documentary maker than about the inner feelings of the non-filmmaker. You go ahead and imagine that in my documentary life everything was according to August, well, it wasn't. But in my working life, I have not involved my mind in the obstacles and their whys and wherefores, and I have not seen the need to describe them here either. Not making difficult situations difficult and keeping my fist in my pocket in any situation has been my problem.
