همسایه‌‌ها داستان دو همسایۀ دیواربه‌دیوار است که در این سه پرده، از دوستی دیرین به نفرت و از نفرت به یگانگی می‌رسند. این نمایشنامه، بیشتر در گروه «نمایشنامه‌های مجلسی(اتاق)» ویناور قرار می‌گیرد و به‌ظاهر ساختار ساده‌تری دارد. خود نویسنده تأکید دارد که این اثر یک کمدی است اما‌ پیچیدگی‌هایش، علاوه‌بر درهم‌آمیختگی کلامی در روند گفت‌وگو، در برهم‌آمیختگی مضمون‌ها نیز نهفته است: گذشتۀ افراد، اسطورۀ ثروت و زر، همسایگی و هم‌جواری با دیگری، دوستی و عشق، دنیای تجارت و کار، پیچیدگی‌های روان فردی، روابط اجتماعی و...
