"...The man wanted to break down the barriers in his life, while his sister had already done so and had found herself struggling with the flood that followed. He could understand now why, when his uncle said that his sister had gone back to Iran, and that Siyavash was alone, those words carried such weight. He could hardly believe that his younger sister had lived so much, experienced so much. It seemed to him that she had been far braver than he had ever been. He thought of his mother too, of how she had never surrendered or given up, and of how courageous women truly are.
He spoke these words aloud while his wife, still awake beside him in bed, listened in the darkness..."
"... مرد میخواست سدهایی را در زندگیش بشکند در حالی که خواهرش این کار را کرده و با سیل خروشان بعد از آن هم دست به گریبان شده بود. مرد می توانست بفهمد چرا وقتی دایی جان مرد خواهرش به ایران رفت. وفتی گفت سیاوش تنهاست چه معنایی داشت. باورش نمی شد که خواهر کوچکش این قدر زندگی کرده باشد. به نظرش آمد که چقدر از خودش باشهامت تر بوده فکر کرد که مادرش هم الکش را نیاویخته بود و اینکه چقدر زن ها باشهامت هستند . این جمله را با صدای بلند گفت وقتی که همسرش در رختخواب هنوز بیدار بود ... "
