میرزاتقی خان امیرکبیر در شمار معدود سیاست‌پیشگان ایران در دو سده‌ی اخیر است که از همان آغاز آشنایی با دنیای سیاست دریافت که ایران از دنیای متمدن و درحال صنعتی‌شدن آن روزگار عقب افتاده و این فاصله به‌سرعت درحال افزایش است. به همین جهت به‌دنبال راه‌های مقابله با آن رفت و کوشید بنیان‌های کارسازی در ایران به وجود آورد. امیرکبیر خدمات فراوانی به کشور کرد و راه توسعه و گسترش علوم و صنایع جدید را در ایران گشود. او باید در حقیقت بنیان‌گذار ایران نو به شمار آورد. کتاب حاضر در سه بخش کلی تدوین یافته است: · نامه‌های امیرکبیر به ناصرالدین‌شاه · اسناد و نامه‌های امیرکبیر · نوادرالامیر و داستان‌های تاریخی درباره‌ی امیرکبیر
