The present work contains 170 documents (= decrees and correspondence) related to a group of Christians known as Carmelite priests during the era of Shah Abbas, who came to Iran for trade (and at the same time to propagate Christianity). The importance of these documents is that without access to these documents, it would not have been possible to obtain so much valuable information about the relations between the Safavids and Christians even through the travelogues of the Europeans.

اثر حاضر، شامل 170 سند (= فرامين و مكاتبات) مربوط به گروه مسيحيان مشهور به پادريان كَرمِلى عصر شاه عبّاس است كه براى تجارت (و در ضمن آن براى تبليغ مسيحيت) به ايران آمده بودند. اهميّت اين اسناد از آن روست که بدون دستيابى به اين مدارك، حتّى از راه سفرنامه هاى اروپائيان نيز ممكن نبود كه نسبت به روابط ميان صفويان و مسيحيان تا اين اندازه اطّلاعات جزئى با ارزش به دست آورد.
