In “The Notebooks of Mahyar al-Dimashqi,” the unity between Adonis the poet and Mahyar the symbol appears more detailed, clearer, and more penetrating in questioning the forbidden, repressed and postponed, or the private intimate and everything related to passions, lusts, and desires. Writing becomes more vertical, and the field of knowledge becomes broader and more transparent. Adonis is a Syrian poet, born in 1930 in the village of Qassabin in Syria. He adopted the name Adonis after the Phoenician legend of Adonis, with which he departed from the Arabic naming tradition in 1948. He published with Youssef Al-Khal the magazine “Poetry” in 1975. Then he published the magazine “Mawaqif” between 1969 and 1994. Visiting professors at universities and research centers in France Switzerland, the United States, and Germany. He won several international awards and honors, and his works have been translated into many languages. Among his publications from Dar Al-Saqi: “The Constant and the Mutable”, “The Collection of Arabic Prose”, “The Collection of Arabic Poetry”, and “The Black Ocean”.
