The hard time is a political and historical novel written by the prominent Peruvian writer, Mario Vargas Llosa. Guatemala, 1954. Behind this violent action lies a lie disguised as the truth, which changed the development of Latin America: the Eisenhower administration's accusation that Terbens encouraged the spread of Soviet communism in the Americas. Hard Times is a story of international conspiracies and conflicting interests during the Cold War, the reverberations of which are still felt today. A story involving several countries where some of the torturers fell victim to the same plot they helped create.
