ترلور بيلدينگ در اوليو استريت نزديك خيابان ششم، ضلع غربي بود.
پياده روي مقابل آن با كفپوش هاي پلاستيكي سياه و سفيد فرش شده بود. داشتند جمعشان مي كردند تا به دولت تحويل دهند. من داخل يك سرسراي بزرگ سياه و طلايي شدم. كمپاني جيلرلين در طبقه ي هفتم، مشرف به خيابان بود. سالن ورودي فرشهاي بافت چين، ديوارهايي به رنگ نقره اي كدر، مبل و اثاثيه كوچك ولي مفصل، چندتا مجسمه ي چشمگير داشت. آنها
لوازم آراطش و عطريات مي فروختند. فروشندهها دو دختر خوشگل بودند.
من كارت ويزيتم را روي ميز گذاشتم و گفتم كه مي خواهم آقاي كينگزلي را ببينم.
