Farhād ʿĀbedīnī

Farhad Abedini (born 1942) is an Iranian poet and literary critic who began writing poetry in the early 1960s. In addition to his own poetry, Abedini has published interpretations and analyses of contemporary poetry and poets. Themes such as loneliness and isolation in his work reflect the anxieties of the 1960s and 1970s.

Abedini’s poetry shows clear stylistic and thematic affinities with Mehdi Akhavan-Sales and Nader Naderpour. His published works include The Migration of Birds, The Arena, The Green Sound of the Oak, Forty Silk Arches, The Rain of Memory, My Crossing Bridge, Echoes of Poetry, Restless Moments, and Blue Trace.

Since the early 1990s, Abedini has organized sessions of the Contemporary Poetry Literary Group, bringing together poets with diverse modernist and traditionalist orientations.
