'Ā'ilatah Al-Mawminīn wa Al-Ṭūfān-i Al-'Aẓīm: Arabiska 2023

It is the end of August and Moominpappa has disappeared while searching for a house where the Moomin family will live during the winter. Moominpappa and Moomintroll set out to look for their father at the same time as a large and dramatic flood occurs. On the way, the mother and son encounter The Little Animal and Tulippa who help them in their search, but also less friendly characters such as a large snake and an antlion. In the Hattifnattarna's boat, they make their way to a place where a red-haired boy lives all alone and with whom Tulippa decides to move in. When everything looks darkest, they are helped by the stork-like bird Marabou Sirrn who lets them sit on his back while he flies high above the trees where they finally find Moominpappa sitting on a branch. While the entire Moomin family and The Little Animal move on, the father tells them that he has found the perfect house for them, which they soon see has floated ashore in a valley they have arrived at. There they decide to live the rest of their lives. Unlike later Moomin books, the book is not set in an archipelago environment, but in an exotic landscape. Many have suggested that the book is an allegory of everyday life in Finland during World War II, when the fathers were away at war and the families had to cope with the demanding and sometimes frightening everyday life on their own.
