A representative short story by Ryunosuke Akutagawa, a writer of the Shinshicho school who was active during the Taisho period. First published in ``Shinshicho'' [1916 (Taisho 5)]. Included in "Hana" [Shunyodo, 1918 (Taisho 7)]. The original story is from the twenty-eighth volume of the Konjaku Monogatari Shu, the twenty-eighth volume of Zenchin Ikeo's Naikuhanago. The story is about a ``Zenchi Naiku'' who is concerned about his too-long nose and struggles to somehow shorten it. At the time of writing, it received high praise from Masao Kume.
