به خودم گفتم: وای، عالی شد! الان شروع می شود! گیر یکی از آن آدم های خل و چل افتادم که خودشان را همینگوی فرض می کنند. می خواستم بدون اینکه حتی جوابش را بدهم از آنجا بروم، اما نتوانستم.باید دست کم یک نگاه به این دلقک می انداختم.
از گوشه ی چشم زیر نظرش گرفتم و کم کم سرم را برگرداندم. اول از همه متوجه شدم تقریباً هم قد من است که البته چیز عجیبی نبود. اما وقتی توانستم صورتش را کامل ببینم، چنان از جایم پریدم که انگار برق فشار قوی به من وصل کرده بودند.
در کسری از ثانیه دهانم باز ماند، سرم رفت عقب و ابروهایم چسبید به رستنگاه موهایم. نگاهم میخکوب شد و چشم هایم تقریباً به اندازه ی دهانم باز ماند. سرم را تکان دادم، محکم تکان دادم، انگار می خواستم صدای پیچ یا مهره ای را که در مغزم شُل شده باشد، بشنوم. بعد گفتم: «خدای مهربان! خودتی! مطمئنم خُل شده‌م!»
