"The Heart" is an impressive novel by "Maylis de Kerangal" that deals with the events that happen to a 19-year-old boy on the verge of death in twenty-four hours. First of all, this issue is related to Simon's parents who had an accident and became brain-dead; Their fear and despair descend like a fork on the singer's throat. Simon is not an ordinary case but an ideal case for organ donation. He was a young man in perfect health and at the peak of his abilities; So they have to act fast and convince the parents to allow it. Here, "Maylis de Kerangal" knows how to give doctors and nurses a face and a personality beyond their seemingly mechanical actions and does not withhold anything from their small emotional aspects, their obsessions, and sometimes their deep loneliness. The main theme of the novel "The Heart" is the acceptance of reality and death. Throughout the novel, Marian and Sean must contend with the prospect of life without their son Simon, who was a strong, healthy young man who lived every moment without fear. Sean is having a harder time coming to terms with Simon's death. He is angry at the hospital and believes that they are not doing enough to save his son, and he stubbornly opposes giving permission to donate Simon's organs. Meanwhile, Marian blames herself for not doing enough to protect Simon from his reckless lifestyle. "The Heart" also deals with the issue of why some people refuse to donate the organs of a deceased person and cannot cope with it, despite the fact that another person's life can be saved.
