The present text comprises an introduction, edition, and commentary on the epic poem Banu Goshasb-nāmeh. This Iranian narrative, an epic in verse, recounts the life of Banu Goshasb—the daughter of Rostam—and her heroic battles. She is a warrior who first rescues an enchanted king, then captivates Shideh, the son of Afrasiab—the sworn enemy of Iran—binding him with the force of her love and revealing his weakness. She also reminds her many suitors of their inadequacy and lack of worthiness.
In the end, she subdues the husband her father, Rostam, had chosen for her from among the renowned Iranian commanders and champions, overpowering him on their wedding night. Through this act, she proves to all men—even to her father—that she is neither obedient nor passive, and will not allow others to decide her fate on her behalf.

نوشتار حاضر شامل مقدمه، تصحیح و توضیحی است بر منظومه حماسی "بانو گشسب نامه ."قصه ایرانی بانو گشسب نامه منظومه ای است حماسی و موضوع آن روایتی از زندگی بانو گشسب دختر رستم و نبردهای پهلوانانه اوست .پهلوانی که نخست پادشاه جادو شده ای را نجات می دهد، سپس "شیده "پسر افراسیاب دشمن ایران زمین را در بند عشق خویش می کشد و زبونی اش را به او می نمایاند .نیز ناتوانی و ضعف خواستگارانش را به آنها گوشزد می کند و در انتها همسری را که پدرش از میان سرداران و پهلوانان به نام ایرانی برایش انتخاب کرده بود در شب زفاف در بند می کند تا به تمام مردان حتی پدرش رستم ثابت کند که او زنی مطیع و منفعل نیست تا به جای او، دیگران تصمیم بگیرند .
