Darakht-hā va Qatl-i Marzūq Persiska (Farsi) 2025

The Trees and the Death of Marzouq is the first and one of the most renowned works of the great Arab writer Abdulrahman Munif (1933–2004), originally published in 1973. From the very beginning, the novel received widespread acclaim from both readers and critics. It addresses the concerns of the modern human being, whose freedom and opportunities for employment, participation in building society, and securing a livelihood and future have been stripped away due to political and social circumstances.

In this novel, Munif analyzes two characters from the post–World War II generation. Despite their differences in lived experiences and mental layers, these two characters share a common trait: alienation in their own homeland. This aspect reflects the broader nature of contemporary human existence in the Arab world, which, according to the author, manifests as an internalized sense of defeat and arises from the pressures and oppression they endure.
