Daftar-i dānāyī va dād: bāznivisht-i Shāhnāmah Persiska (Farsi) 2014

“Daftar-e Danāyi va Dād (The Book of Wisdom and Justice)” is a prose retelling of Hakim Abol-Qasem Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh, prepared by Mir Jalal al-Din Kazazi, a renowned Shahnameh scholar and distinguished professor of Persian language and literature. In this work, Kazazi recounts the stories and profound ideas of the Shahnameh in an elegant and rhythmic prose style, seeking to preserve the linguistic beauty and intellectual grandeur of this national epic for contemporary readers.

In Kazazi’s view, the Shahnameh is not merely a collection of heroic tales, but a vast treasury of wisdom, justice, ethics, culture, and Iranian worldview. In this adaptation, drawing upon decades of research on Ferdowsi’s masterpiece, he conveys the mythical and epic world of the Shahnameh through a language that is more accessible to modern audiences while maintaining its original spirit.

Mir Jalal al-Din Kazazi (born in 1948 in Kermanshah) is a university professor, writer, translator, and one of the most prominent contemporary scholars of the Shahnameh. He completed his doctoral dissertation on symbolism in the Shahnameh and has authored numerous works on Persian literature, Ferdowsi studies, and Iranian culture.

“Daftar-e Danāyi va Dād” is an effort to reopen the doors of the Shahnameh for today’s readers; a work in which storytelling, mythology, and wisdom come together, presenting Ferdowsi’s epic as a vast sea of Iranian thought, cultural memory, and human values.
