Continental Philosophy of the 20th Century, edited by Richard Kearney, is the eighth volume of the history of Western philosophy books, which is one of the most important and challenging movements in the field of philosophy in the 20th century. This huge volume contains fourteen chapters, which will examine its major schools, including phenomenology, existentialism, and postmodernism. After a foreword written by the editor of the book, Richard Kearney, the contents of the book begin with the first chapter, which is an introduction to phenomenology. Chapters two to four examine existential philosophy from the perspective of prominent philosophers such as Heidegger, Sartre, and Merleau-Ponty, and chapter five describes the philosophy of religion from Jaspers, Marcel, and Levinas. In the sixth chapter, the philosophy of science and ideas of Dohm, Mach, and Bachelard are presented, and then the philosophies of Marxism from the point of view of Lenin, Gramsci, Lukács, and Althusser are explained in the seventh chapter. In chapter eight, the critical theories of Habermas, Horkheimer, and Adorno, and in chapter nine, hermeneutics are examined. Chapter 12 is French Feminism from the perspective of de Beauvoir, Kristeva, Cixou, Abrigaret, and Ludoff, and Chapter 13 is Deconstruction and Derrida. Finally, the fourteenth chapter of the continental philosophy of the 20th century explains the postmodernist ideas of Buderbar, Lyotard, and others to the audience.
