The book Karestan Sokhan is an introduction to understanding the Shahnameh text and its functions. It aims to overcome the history-literature dichotomy that has dominated the interpretation of the text and provide a new plan for confronting Ferdowsi’s “speech.” In the first chapter, the author uses a hermeneutic approach to clarify the relationship between the text and history and literature, or more generally, reality and imagination, and shows that fictional literary is not an unreal thing. Therefore the “literary narrative” of the Shahnameh has a path to truth. In the second chapter, relying on this approach and analyzing the Shahnameh text and its narrative and metaphorical structure, the method of narration (imaginary reconstruction) of the past in the Shahnameh is examined and its cognitive-ethical significance is explained.
