"Comparative literature" which is its equivalent in Arabic "al-Adab al-Maqaran" is the translation of the combination of comparative literature in English and la literature comparée in French. Regarding the term "comparative literature" or "Al-Adab al-Maqaran" there have been and still are differences of opinion among experts; There is a difference of opinion on whether this term is indicative or not; In other words, the meaning of the term "comparative literature" includes all the topics of this field or not. It is obvious that the topics that are included under the title of "comparative literature" are, first, literary topics and then historical. Comparative literature compares several literary works; It also includes the topics that have been raised and gained importance in the contemporary period.
