Baḥīrah (dar Ḥikāyat-navīsī va ‘Ajāyib-nigārī (3 Jildī): Persian 1398

Mir Muhammad Hashim Beg Fazuni Istrabadi, son of Jalal al-Din Naqqash, was a writer and poet of the 11th century AH who spent a long time of his life traveling in India, Iran, and the Arab world and collected the results of his reading, seeing, and hearing in the book Bahira. In addition to the preface and conclusion, this work has 44 chapters (some chapters consist of two or more chapters) that are presented in the form of a number of stories. The book was written in two major themes: history writing (chapters 1-27) and miracle writing (chapters 28-44), and the author has dedicated each chapter to a specific topic: from justice and the supernatural, habits, and the tyranny of kings to the insight, laziness, memory, and dreams of other people, and from seas, springs, and rocks to islands and amazing buildings. The book's specific subject matter and its reference to numerous first-hand sources, some of which are missing or at least have not been published, as well as the author's own observations and hearings, are among the book's strengths due to the novelty of the material.
