Parvīn Dukhtar-i Sāsān (Va Iṣfihān Niṣf-i Jahān): Persian

The Daughter of Sasan, written in December 1928 and completed in 1920, is a play in three acts by Sadeq Hedayat. The place and time of its occurrence are in Rey and the first century of the lunar calendar. In the first act, the Arabs have conquered almost all the cities of Iran and have now reached the gates of Rey. There is much talk of previous battles and the terrible fate of the occupied areas. The end of the first act is in the form of a melodrama and shows the two lovers, Parvin and Parviz, together. Parviz, an officer in the city garrison, says goodbye and returns to his headquarters in the defensive trenches. In the second act, Parvin's father is suffering from a fatal illness of unknown cause, and he dies after four soldiers enter the house, kill the servant, and take Parvin with them. In the third act, the commander of the Arab army informs Parvin that her fiancé has been killed in the war. Then he intends to take revenge on her. Parveen stabs him and ends her life honorably.
