The flourishing of human life depends on the formation and development of democratic institutions through which the best ways of living together can be learned. These institutions are not necessarily objective mechanisms, structures and buildings, but include the morals and values of a society. Now, in the interpretation of many, we Iranians have gained precious opportunities for the formation and development of these institutions at various "historical moments". For this reason, in this book, an attempt is made to present a discussion plan to explain those causes by rethinking the role of internal institutions (as opposed to the conspiracy theory) and in this way open a window to reread some of the most important events in Iran's contemporary history.

شکوفایی زندگی بشری، منوط به تکوین و توسعه نهادهای دموکراتیکی است که از آن طریق بهترین شیوه‌های باهم زیستن فرا گرفته شوند. این نهادها، لزوما سازوکارها، سازه‌ها و ساختمان‌های عینی نیستند، بلکه اخلاقیات و ارزش‌های یک جامعه را شامل می‌شوند. حال، به تعبیر بسیاری، ما ایرانیان در « بزنگاه‌های تاریخی» گوناگون، فرصت‌های گران‌قدری را برای تکوین و توسعه این نهادها به دست آورده‌ایم، منتهی به علل گوناگون این فرصت‌ها دود شدند و به هوا رفتند. از این جهت، در این کتاب تلاش می‌شود تا طرح بحثی در تبیین آن علل با بازاندیشی در نقش نهادهای داخل ( در تقابل با نظریه توطئه) ارائه شود و از این طریق دریچه‌ای برای بازخوانی برخی از مهم‌ترین رخدادهای تاریخ معاصر ایران باز گردد.
