The present collection of articles, for the first time in Iran, has displayed the story of semiotics in the last hundred years through the narration of key articles by influential semioticians. The articles of the first part introduce the basics, definitions, and history of semiotics. In the second part, theorists have discussed the first origin of this knowledge in linguistics. Turning from linguistics to literary studies is the subject of the essay of the third part. The fourth part shows the application of semiotic studies in art forms, and the two essays of the fifth part are about the challenges that the definition of signs and semiotics have faced in recent decades. It is hoped that this collection of articles will help Iranian researchers and enthusiasts as a valid reference for research in this field.

مجموعه مقالات حاضر، برای نخستین بار در ایران، داستان نشانه شناسی را در صد سال اخیر به روایت مقالات کلیدی نشانه شناسان تاثیرگذار به نمایش گذاشته است. مقالات بخش نخست مبانی، تعاریف و تاریخچه نشانه شناسی را معرفی می کنند. در بخش دوم، نظریه پردازان به خاستگاه نخستین این دانش در زبانشناسی پرداخته اند. چرخش از زبانشناسی به مطالعات ادبی موضوع جستارهای بخش سوم است. بخش چهارم کاربست مطالعات نشانه شناسی را در گونه های هنری به نمایش می گذارد و دو جستار بخش پنجم درباره چالش هایی است که تعریف نشانه و نشانه شناسی در دهه های اخیر با آن روبرو شده است. امید است این مجموعه مقالات به عنوان مرجعی معتبر برای پژوهش ها در این حوزه به پژوهش گران و علاقه مندان ایرانی یاری رساند.
