The book Love of Knowledge is a readable and fascinating narrative of seven important philosophical works by six great Western philosophers and writers: Plato, Spinoza, Rousseau, Nietzsche, Foucault, and Derrida. The first and second chapters are dedicated to drawing the image of Socrates in two dialogues of Plato (Defence and Banquet); In this chapter, we get to know most of the philosophical ideas of Socrates (and Plato). The third and fourth chapters deal with two very influential philosophers (Spinoza and Rousseau); With Spinoza, we become aware of the geometry of ethics, and with Rousseau about the types of loneliness. The fifth chapter deals with Nietzsche and one of his most controversial and lively works (Genealogy of Morals); Everything we need to know about Nietzsche and his intellectual life is gathered here. Finally, the sixth and seventh chapters are dedicated to two French philosophers: Foucault and Derrida. In very few books, we see such a clear and understandable picture of these two philosophers, philosophers who are still not as well known in Iran as they should be, but are considered among the most important thinkers of the 20th century. This book is a practical effort to show the concept of philosophy (love of knowledge, or in the words of the author of this book, love of knowledge) in the history of Western thought, through the works and thoughts of these six great philosophers.
