The initial idea of this book was derived from tactical analysis. The early teams of history played with a large number of attackers and a handful of defenders. What was the course of tactical development? In what eras has the tactical approach changed and how has the history of football changed? The trainers in question have either a prominent tactical position or a special historical significance. The order of their presentation in the chapters of the book is based on historical precedence and it is possible to achieve the process of tactical changes from one era to another with a kind of historical continuity. Herbert Chapman's first English coach in the decade and the last one was Pep Guardiola at the beginning of the decade.
