Tintin buys a model boat for Captain Haddock at the Old Market. Coincidentally, it is the model of the one commanded by his ancestor, the Chevalier de Hadoque, during the reign of Louis XIV. Tintin discovers by chance in the main mast of the boat an incomprehensible parchment while making the boat fall. Meanwhile, Haddock discovered a chest containing the objects that belonged to his ancestor, and in particular manuscripts... Thanks to these manuscripts, Tintin learns of the existence of a treasure and decide to start looking for it. The model is stolen and Tintin learns that two other replicas of the ship exist, and that to find the treasure, the three replicas must be brought together...
