In today’s world, speed and movement define everyday life. It is a world of listening and speaking, of reading and writing. Above all, it is a world of communication and experience, a world in which ears can see and eyes can speak. In such a world, actions speak louder than anything else: the practice of effective communication and the fulfillment of linguistic commitments.

Against this backdrop, the present book seeks to introduce a number of theoretical perspectives alongside practical examples of educational activities. One of its central aims is to encourage language teachers to approach the use of purposeful language-teaching methods and techniques with greater care and reflection. Another important objective is to foster motivation among both teachers and learners to make effective and appropriate use of the educational resources available to them.
